A BILL to amend article two, chapter thirty of the code of West
Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, by
adding thereto a new section, designated section thirteen-a,
relating to
making
an attorney employing a court reporter to
undertake work on behalf of his or her client responsible for
payment to the court reporter for services rendered.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That article two, chapter thirty of the code of West Virginia,
one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be amended by
adding thereto a new section, designated section thirteen-a, to
read as follows:
ARTICLE 2. ATTORNEYS-AT-LAW.
§30-2-13a. Liability of attorney for court reporter fees.

An attorney employing a court reporter to undertake work on
behalf of his or her client is responsible for payment to the court reporter for services rendered. The attorney may bill the client
for expenses incurred for the court reporter's services.

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to make
an attorney
employing a court reporter to undertake work on behalf of his or
her client responsible for payment to the court reporter for
services rendered.
